One of the tragedies of being a human being is the ability to use verbal language. One may say it helps us to understand each other faster and better, but because we can choose to be dishonest, it can also delay or disable mutual understanding. The worst tragedy happens when somebody is dishonest about himself/herself. When she is dishonest verbally, her "mind" agrees with the dishonest version about herself and she gets stuck...often until her physical self tells her what the honest version of her feelings by inflicting pains. If you watch Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan magically rehabilitates psychologically damaged dogs in such a short time, from a few minutes to several weeks (which is still short compared to cases of human beings). The reason is not just because dog's mind is simpler, but the lack of verbal language seems to be working for them as well. Because dogs can only be honest in their behaviors, somebody like Cesar who has learned dogs' non-verbal language can tell their problems quickly and accordingly healing can happen quickly as well. I believe we humans ARE designed to heal as well, and heal instantly. It is our innate capability that Mother Nature gave us. The only requirement is to be completely honest with ourselves. So, how do we know we are actually being honest or we think we are being honest? Well, that's why we are equipped with emotions. Emotions are our Pinocchio's nose. If you have forgotten how to address your emotions, notice any discomfort with your body. Your whole body is also Pinocchio's nose. Are you sleeping well at night? If not, that's a sign too. Practice your emotions; watch a touching movie and intentionally allow yourself to cry. Even anger is fine, as long as you recognize it when it arises and acknowledge it to yourself (if you do that, it's actually under your control). There are no undesirable emotions; Every emotion has a useful function to guide you to a balanced state. By the way, I think we humans are also honest in our behaviors quite often, but we rationalize other people's behaviors and that rationalization is the dishonest part. If he doesn't call you back, it hurts. Right? Again, somewhere in each of us there is a mechanism to heal ourselves instantly. Cesar Millan and his dogs are showing that potential. One of the reasons the Universe sent dogs to us is to demonstrate that it's possible. |
